The Process of Execution is one of Guertena's series of paintings located in the Yellow Area in the game Ib. They depict the process of a guillotine's blade steadily rising, viewed from left to right. The guillotine's blade is attached to the rest of the weapon by a red string, with the weapon itself set on a brown wooden floor. The images are set against a purple background, surrounded by a black inner frame and a silver outer frame.

Once Ib passes in front of the sixth painting, the guillotine will come down in an attempt to crush her. Being under the guillotine as it falls will instantly kill her. Ib can either run down the stairs to dodge the guillotine or simply dodge back before it crashes and wait for it to rise back up. If Ib touches the guillotine after it has fallen, it will not kill her.

In the Yellow Area, the paintings are located in the final hallway that leads to the Red Area. A title is not displayed in this area.

In the True Guertena Exhibit, the paintings are located in the uppermost part of the Yellow Room. They are officially titled "The Process of Execution."

  • This is the first obstacle in the game that can kill Ib instantly, regardless of the amount of petals her rose has left.
