Want me treasure?

— Jewel Box of Temptation

The Jewel Box of Temptation is one of Guertena's creations and is found in the Cyan Area of the Dungeon in the game Ib. It is a light blue chest with spikes inside it, which opens as it talks.

Puzzle Guide[]

The perfect layout

Jewel Box of Temptation, along with Birth of the Copernicus Revolution, is part of a puzzle within the Cyan Area; the player must identify which celestial bodies did not appear in the hole of the Birth of the Copernicus Revolution. When Ib initially interacts with the Jewel Box of Temptation, it will ask her if she wants its treasure. If Ib says yes, the box will say that she must solve the puzzle on the wall behind it. After inputting the correct answer on the wall (an orange celestial body on the left and a green one on the right), Ib should talk to the box again. It will say, "You smart. Fine, you have my treasure." It will then open to reveal a piece of the Guertena painting. Should the player input an incorrect answer, the box will say, "No guess" and bite Ib, damaging her rose by one petal.

In the Ib remake, she must align the paintings and figures as pictured to the right.

Location[]

In the Cyan Area, the sculpture is located in the northeast room of the main area. The door will be locked, so Ib must drop into the room via the Birth of the Copernicus Revolution.

In the True Guertena Exhibit, the sculpture is located on the right side in the Secret Room.

Trivia[]

  • Talking to the Jewel Box of Temptation after completing the puzzle and obtaining its "treasure" will result in it complaining about how bored and hungry it is. Ib can offer the Jewel Box her rose to eat if she is alone, causing her rose to lose one petal. If Garry is with Ib, he will stop her from giving her rose to the Jewel Box.
  • When playing "I Spy" with the Jewel Box of Temptation, the three letters Ib proposes are I, G, and M, which most likely refers to Ib, Garry, and Mary.
  • The Jewel Box of Temptation states that when it is bored, it plays with a bird. This could be the bird from Place of Warmth.
  • In the True Guertena Exhibit, if Ib interacts with it, it will tell her to "Take easy [sic]."
  • In the remake, if you bring Garry to the jewel box and you say "G" to his I spy game, he will say "Were you trying to suggest me, Ib...?"
  • Similar to the above, if Ib says "It was tough" to its puzzle, Garry will say "Not as if I would describe ourselves as 'bored' here..."
  • Any other answer to it asking if the puzzle was hard, Garry will respond with "Enough puzzles, please..."

Dialogue[]

This dialogue list is incomplete. Please consider adding to it.

"Play game. Me spy with me little eye. You say. Something that start with.." (Options are: I, G, M)

  • If Ib chooses "I"
"I...? Nothing start with I."
"Me give up. You too good."
  • If Ib chooses "G"
"G... Gem!"
"No... not have. Embarass."
"Dang! Me give up."
  • If Ib chooses "M"
"M... Me! Yes! Me win!"
"Me never win before."

"Tummy rumble. Give something."

  • If Ib says "I don't have anything"
"Oh really."

"Hey. This room's puzzle hard?" (Exclusive to remake)

  • If Ib says it was easy
"You genius. Was wrong about you maybe."
"Well, next time, me think of harder puzzle."
  • If Ib says it was a little hard
"Hmm. But solved anyway. Maybe you pretty smart."
"Well, next time, me think of harder puzzle."
  • If Ib says it was tough
"Oh? This hard?"
"Well, made not bored, me bet?"
  • If Ib says it was too hard
"Ohh really. You no good at puzzles?"
"Well, next time, me think of harder puzzle."

"Me bored here. All me do is play with bird sometimes."

"Me used to have better things. Pretty rocks and rings. Me not anymore."

"Read forward, 'refer.' Read backward, still 'refer.' Why? Me want to know."
