Is it okay to cross?

— Ib

Bashful Glance is one of Guertena's paintings located in the Brown Area in the game Ib. It depicts a pair of blinking eyes, with a green background and a yellow frame.

In order for the painting to appear in the True Guertena Exhibit, Ib must keep Garry alive to read its name in the Collected Works of Guertena in the Cyan Area.

In the Brown Area, the painting is located over a gap in the floor that prevents Ib and Mary from crossing. The painting must serve as a bridge to cross this gap. In the Violet Area, Garry must pull the fourth cord in the row of five cords to make the painting slide down over the gap. However, its eyes will still be open, so Ib must politely ask if it's okay to cross. It will then close its eyes to allow them passage. Otherwise, Ib can stare intently at it, which will do nothing. Upon crossing, the painting makes a "boink" sound each time.

In the True Guertena Exhibit, the painting is in the Brown Room, between the Fallen Star and rainbow bridge. In the exhibit, it is actually titled, while it had no title in the main game.

Collected Works of GuertenaEdit

In the Cyan Area, Bashful Glance is named and described in Collected Works of Guertena. Ib cannot read the word "Bashful." It was said to have been created in 6182.

"An all-green painting with just two eyes. Created in Guertena's student days. This work was donated to the school he attended, but its whereabouts have been unknown for years. Rumors say that someone at the school took it with them, but this is unconfirmed." There's no picture for this one...

  • This is the second painting used to serve as a foothold to cross a gap, the first being the Ant Painting.
